In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at images they can't forget, human towers, Tokyo's underground temple, Suni and the Seven Princesses, Socks Davis, the digital camera niche and the Zeiss Milvus 35mm.
- The New York Times marks a year of war in Our Photographers in Israel and Gaza on the Images They Can't Forget (gift link). Seven photojournalists presents one image and describe the moment.
- Joe Plimmer presents images of The Human Towers of Tarragona as Catalans compete to build the biggest human towers in Spain.
- Issei Kato's photographs show Tokyo Expands Underground 'Temple' Complex to Counter Climate Change Rains. With video by Tom Bateman.
- In Their 80s, These South Korean Women Learned Reading and Rap. Lee Jin-Man profiles in words and pictures the group, writing, "Suni and the Seven Princesses enjoy nationwide fame, appearing in commercials and going viral on social media."
- Harold Davis photographs Socks Davis, his three-month old kitten, in black-and-white.
- In What's Left for the Camera Market?, Thom Hogan sees some space left by smartphones for "dedicated digital cameras." He lists five areas cameras still have to themselves.
- Kirk Tuck shows a set of monochrome images captured with his Zeiss Milvus Distagon 35mm f2.0 lens. He acquired it "earlier this year and love the look of the files it makes. What I don't love so much is the weight. But it's one of those perennial trade-offs."
