Except for August, every month has a federal holiday. We know because we celebrate them religiously. With two in November, that works out to 12 days off a year for us.
A few of those holidays inspire elaborate outdoor decorations in residential neighborhoods. We're thinking of Christmas and, yes, Halloween, which is fast approaching.
But over the years we've noticed the urge to decorate is not confined to the home. Offices and other public-facing operations like to decorate too.
In nursing homes it helps to mark the passage of time, we suppose. MLK Day is followed by Valentine's Day followed by St. Patrick's day and so on.
As you might have noticed decorations don't require a national holiday. Just a commonly recognized excuse to party.
So we weren't too surprised to find decorations invading the plastic surgery clinic when we took Joyce in for her monthly debridement.
Although we have to admit it was a little disconcerting to see parts of the human body lying on the counter. Yes, it could have been worse. They didn't have to be fake in that place.
We snapped a few shots with our phone and left the candy dish alone before we took the bus back home with Joyce.
