In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Ziaul Huque, Big Sky, M series lenses and work experience.
- Homeless Children Playing Football in Dumping Yard is Ziaul Huque's best phone picture, Grace Holliday writes. "Huque, a freelance photographer, took this image on an iPhone 13 Pro Max at South Surma dumping site, in Sylhet," she writes. "On the day he visited, the children had finished collecting their bottles and gathered together for a game of football with friends. 'For a moment,' Huque says, 'they were happy.'"
- In 'Photography Is Steeped in All Kinds of Colonial Complexities', Walter Marsh reviews Adam Ferguson's new book. "His new monograph, Big Sky, collects a decade of photography that Ferguson hopes disrupts the familiar and – at times – reductive representations of regional Australia seen across the political and media landscape," he writes. "I recently bought a Leica SL2-S camera body and have read extensively about other peoples' use of that particular camera model as a platform for their M series lenses (with adapters)," Kirk Tuck writes. So he mounted a Voigtlander 90mm f2.8 APO-Skopar on his SL2-S. "I took some images while I was walking around this morning," he notes before showing them.
- In Work Experience, Mike Johnston shares some feedback on his recent real estate job from pros.
