What a strange moment in history we inhabit. And yet here we are. And once again go to the polls to cast our votes.
This old photo of a mural on the seawall at Ocean Beach still inspires us. No spray-paint tagging with indecipherable initials. No profanity to offend. Just an elaborate reminder to do the noble thing. Vote.
As we watched the news each day during this campaign, we were disappointed that so much of it reported the antics of one convicted felon at the expense of covering what the incumbent vice president had said and done. She's admittedly not a circus act like him -- but this isn't about entertainment.
It's about the future of the free world.
We were also disappointed in the surveys of the electorate. How could so many claim to be "undecided" voters? Were they not paying attention?
You could argue that many voters were not paying attention, having made their minds up early and turned off the show.
But they didn't just turn off the show, these surveys showed. Many of them were simply wrong about matters of fact. Like the state of the economy. Or immigrants. Or pets in Ohio.
They'd been lied to, of course. But even after the lies had been revealed, they didn't quit.
Yes, it's a strange moment in history.
We're putting our faith in the young people of this country going into the voting booth for the first time and the women of all ages who are appalled at the dangers to their health created by the Supreme Court's decision to forsake their fate to state legislatures controlled by men who simply don't get what's at stake.
The future is at stake. Protect it. Vote.
