In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at winners, extras, 13 film images and net neutrality.
- The Players' Tribune shares is Photos of the Year. "From moments of quiet reflection to raucous celebrations, these 26 photos highlight the humanity, resilience and joy that define athletes' journeys," the editors write.
- Grace Holliday presents Extras, 1 a.m.,, Jake Polonsky's best phone picture. "The image reminds me how unglamorous the film industry can be, but it makes me smile, too -- it shows the resilience of people on a film set trying to get some rest," he says.
- Mike Johnston presents his 'Film' Baker's Dozen winners from over 140 submissions with their comments on the film images.
- Lauren Feiner reports Net Neutrality Eviscerated by Appeals Court Ruling after the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down federal net neutrality rules. "Consumers across the country have told us again and again that they want an Internet that is fast, open and fair," FCC Chair Jessica said Rosenworcel in a statement. "With this decision it is clear that Congress now needs to heed their call, take up the charge for net neutrality and put open Internet principles in federal law."
