In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at devastation, Trumpland, the "What", a Z9 generation table and a cat photo controversy.
- NPR continues to update its gallery of images of the recent California Wildfire Devastation in southern California.
- Sarah Gilbert reviews Trumpland by photojournalist JM Giordano, who has followed the president-elect from the carnival-like kick-off at his first rally in 2015 to the insurrection at the Capitol in 2021.
- In The What ('Bones' Part II), Mike Johnston begins, "Photography is unique among the arts and crafts in that it can't (or mostly doesn't) come from nowhere." What is the "what" you photograph?
- Thom Hogan builds a table to show The Z9 Generation Key Differences with the exception of the Zf "as it's just a completely different kind of design." It came up in answer to a question from "someone who lost their home and cameras to the L.A. fires and now needs to replace gear."
- Photo of My Cat Was Removed for Being AI-Generated, a Reddit poster complains. "I tried reaching out to the mods for clarification, they said my photos are too clean," they say. Too clean? Aren't all cats clean?
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look five years back. And please support our efforts...
