In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Lone Cypress, Larry Clark, Mexican troops and the Unpro camera app.
- Andrew Chamings suggests The Lone Cypress, California's most photographed tree, should be allowed to die (like other famous trees in the area he revisits). "The maximum lifespan of the species is around 200 to 300 years, though most live to nearer 100," he writes. "Without the added foundation and steel cables, the tree would have long ago washed into the sea."
- Larry Clark revisits his Addiction Images from the 1960s, which have been published in a new book. "I've always been interested in small groups of marginalized people who no one would know about otherwise," Clark says of these images of his friends over a 10-year period.
- Reuters presents 13 image of Mexican Troops Deployed to Border With U.S.
- Kehl Bayern tries the $3.99 Unpro Camera App "which promises to take away all of the extra processing smartphone makers layer onto images and give you a more 'natural' view through the lens."
