In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at New York Fashion Week, Lumberjills, shooting film again and the Python Imagining Library.
- Reuters showcases 52 photos from New York Fashion Week.
- The Lumberjills is a new photo book with black-and-white images of young women working in Britain's forests during the second world war. Joanna Foat tells the story of the Women's Timber Corps with the voices of the Lumberjills themselves in the new title.
- Jason Row tells What Happened When I Shot Film After a 20 Year Break with a Minolta X300. "I had forgotten just how grainy film could be, even at a fairly low 400 ISO," he writes.
- Dr. Drang explains GIFs, Transparency and PIL (that's the Python Imagining Library) to Jason Snell, who was trying to deliver color data to an output device. A nice look at what goes on in a color image.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look five years back. And please support our efforts...
