Suddenly we find ourselves immersed in the estates of three people, only one of whom we can actually discuss matters with. And even then that would entail talking to ourself.

Rope. Olympus E-PL1 with 14-42mm II R kit lens at 25mm (50mm equivalent), f5, 1/25 second and ISO 1600. Process in Adobe Camera Raw and a Neutral Filter to blur the background on a separate layer.

Stretching our legs to get the mail we took in the rope we have hung from the rafters for those occasions when we have to tie things down. We thought it would make a fine illustration of the predicament we were in.

So we put the mail down and grabbed a camera no one would buy these days and took the shot.

We had opened the aperture as wide as it would go, which was only f5. So we used a little Photoshop magic with its Depth Blur neural filter to blur the background. Just to be on the safe side, we added that to our image in a separate layer.

Then we rearranged layers so the main image of the rope was on top. We Selected the Subject using the Cloud for better detail, Inverted the selection and Cleared it so the background blur of the lower layer would come through.

And that's what you see.

Now why can't modern finances be just as simple as that?
