In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Ukraine, Ukrainian Soldiers, Women in Trees, the SAG Awards and Aïda Muluneh.

  • Matt Fidler curates photos depicting Three Years of War in Ukraine.
  • In Ukrainian Soldiers Are Returning to Battle After Amputation, Associated Press photographers Hanna Arhirova, Evgeniy Maloletka and Vasilisa Stepanenko document the "men who returned to combat out of a sense of duty amid the grim outlook for their country."
  • Kathryn Bromwich shares a few images collected over 25 years by Hamburg-based collector Jochen Raiss now published in Women in Trees. "The women exert a great effort to hold on to these trees without losing their balance," he writes. in the introduction to the book. Their Sunday dresses and fashionable shoes stand in stark contrast to the nature around them."
  • Reuters presents 40 images of Style From the SAG Awards Red Carpet. With 37 more of The Winners.
  • In If You Don't Know, You Won't Go: Aïda Muluneh in Bradford, Francis Hodgson bemoans the lack of publicity for Muluneh's show. "Aïda Muluneh is a very well-travelled Ethiopian artist, now based in Abidjan, in the Ivory Coast," he writes. "I don't know how one could sensibly rank such things, but I'd say that she is pretty high in the list of those African artists with a reputation on other continents."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
