In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Holi, a wedding, a refrigerator, small lens performance, step sizes for macro photography and cruise ship photography.
- Reuters presents 15 photos Celebrating Holi, Festival of Colors in India.
- Killian Fox highlights Argentine photographer Sebastián Bruno's image of A Wedding in Cardiff, Wales. His series Ta-ra, which won the 2022 Mallorca prize for contemporary photography and was later published as a book by Ediciones Anómalas, was shot over the course of 10 years, focusing mainly on working-class urban areas around south Wales. It's now on exhibit in Paris until April 11.
- Associated Press photographer Majdi Mohammed captures the plight of Palestinians in his photo of One Man Carrying a Refrigerator. "In his eyes, he was not only carrying a refrigerator, but he was carrying the memory of a house that no longer exists and a life that he tries to continue despite everything," Mohammed writes.
- In The Best Camera Lens You Own!, Mike Johnston compares a Tessar lens for a mobile phone camera with a Leica 43mm. "I might also add that as a general rule, lenses designed for less coverage measure better than lenses with more coverage," he explains.
- Jim Kasson calculates the Optimal Step Sizes for Macro Photography Using a Rail for the Rodenstock 105mm f5.6 HR Macro Digaron. "I'd appreciate it if some mathematically inclined person would check my numbers," he writes.
