We interrupted our usual evening reverie to admire the canopy of inflamed clouds over a stand of eucalyptus trees that have not been cut down on Edgehill Mountain.

"Eucalyptus is a tree. Its leaves and oil have been consumed, chewed, and applied to the skin for many conditions," MedlinePlus notes. "People use eucalyptus for many conditions including asthma, bronchitis, flu (influenza), and many others, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses."
We were surprised to learn there are 700 varieties of the stuff, some of them shrubs. And mostly native to Australia.
Which makes them an invasive species around here, admired by some, attacked by others.
You can see how they loom over the three-story homes below them as they stretch up to the sunset.
But what we really like about this shot is the sky. Its color gradates from yellow to blue as sit rises toward the inflamed red cloud cover. Depending on how you look at it, that's either calmingly reassuring or threatening.
We take the view it's reassuring because those clouds do move on more quickly than the light fades. All it takes is the wind that brought them here.
