We'd taken the Honda to Paul's on Geary St. for its six-month free tire balancing and rotation so we were back in our old neighborhood. To amuse ourselves while we waited, we took a walk between downpours hoping to find one or two things to photograph.

No problem. This is San Francisco after all. You can't walk very far at all without seeing something that catches your eye.
Not that you stop immediately and whip our the recording device of your choice. You more likely, as we did, walk by and think better of it, turning around and walking back a few steps to size up the shot.
You see that gorgeous blue sky? Don't be fooled. A few minutes before a squall came through and thoroughly drenched us. We had to bury our iPhone under a few layers of clothing to protect it.
But we're glad we returned to the purple house, which had also gotten drenched.
It's a rather extreme palette: two shades of purple (shadows and midtones) a beige highlight, some gold, some green panels and bannisters, a brown shingle roof. And yet it works.
Purple. Rain. Prince would have liked it, we think.
