In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's week, Uganda's Rwenzori mountains, Istanbul, the Nikon Z5II and AI bots attack Wikimedia.

  • The Associated Press showcases its Week in Pictures curated by Deputy Director of Photography Special Projects Jacqueline Larma.
  • Project Pressure presents images from An Expedition to Map Ice Loss in Uganda's Rwenzori mountains. The images show "the disastrous effects of the climate crisis on a vital source of water that is central to the lives and sacred beliefs of the local Bakonzo community."
  • In Istanbul -- a Mosaic of Dreams, Andrei Furnea notes, "I was deeply touched by the dynamic of the streets and the kindness of humans as well as how the chaotic visual elements have a tendency to arrange themselves gracefully in front of the spectator."
  • In Nikon Introduces the Z5II, With Surprises, Thom Hogan shares his thoughts about what Nikon is doing ("in reality they're simply rebuilding their very wide dSLR lineup again, though perhaps with a few more features at the lower end this time").
  • Wikimedia Drowning in AI Bot Traffic as Crawlers Consume 65 Pct. of Resources. We know the problem. Our Thursday bandwidth exceeded the size of the entire site (with articles dating to 2012).

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
