Amulets

We happened to pass this intriguing collection of auto amulets on a walk by the reservoir yesterday. It was on a stretch of roadway that commuters park to take the streetcar downtown to work, avoiding the monthly parking fees of the downtown garages.

The steering wheel cover with Betty Boop providing a firm group was amusing enough for a smile but not amusing enough in itself to take a photo. That would have been, well, advertising.
But when we noticed the rosary hanging from the rear view mirror, our resistance melted.
It was the combination of the two that amused us.
You could see some young male buying a Betty Boop wheel cover but not hanging a rosary on his rear view mirror. But a young female might find them both good amulets, protecting (and projecting) her as confident within boundaries. Or, well, who knows? Life is full of surprises,
We didn't hang around long enough to find out, though. It was enough to be amused for a moment.
