In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's week, Reuter's week, Martin Parr, new archives, a camping platform and Ken Griffey Jr.

  • The Associated Press showcases its Week in Pictures curated by photo editor Anita Baca.
  • And Reuters posts 15 Pictures of the Week of its own.
  • Martin Parr is in Kyoto exhibiting his work Small World at Kyotographie, an international photography festival but took time to shoot The Cherry Blossom Season.
  • In To Conjure: New Archives in Recent Photography, Magali Duzant reviews a multi-layered group exhibition at the International Center for Photography. "As the United States government and its functionaries continue to ban books, dismantle institutions and pursue oppressive measures against vulnerable groups, institutional archives find themselves in a position that is both fragile and powerful," she writes. "Amid this moment of chaos and uncertainty, a new group exhibition ... calls for an alternative archive; one focused on the future as much as the past."
  • Derrick Story reviews the Hele Box Car Camping Platform, a short-legged, adjustable bed that its inside his VW SUV. It's six feet long and 24 inches wide, so he can sleep on it when he's on the road.
  • Hall of Fame Slugger Ken Griffey Jr. Is Working as a Photographer at the Masters for Masters.com. While he's been taking photos since his days in the major leagues, he started getting serious as a way to see his kids more often. He attracted too much attention going to their games as himself so he "figured nobody's messing with the photographer, well let me pick it up."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
