In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's week, the ADM awards, an MS-Optics ISM 50mm f1.0, dancers and black point errors.
- The Associated Press showcases its top Photos of the Week curated by photo editor Pamela Hassell.
- Reuters presents 35 photos from the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards in Frisco, Tex. Plus another 35 from the Red Carpet.
- Harold Davis shows a few images taken with a hand-asssembled MS-Optics ISM 50mm f1.0 on his Leica 11MP with a Leica Macro-Adapter-M.
- Suzanne Sease features Dancers in the Museum, the personal project of Howard Schatz. "I worked for three days making photographs of the innumerable spaces and galleries at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, using my imagination to 'picture' what it would look like with ballerinas in the various spaces," he says.
- Jim Kasson explores Correcting Raw Black Point Errors With Lightroom's Calibration Panel. "When done correctly, it ensures that the darkest tones in your image are neutral and retain subtle detail," he writes. "When it’s wrong, shadow tones can become visibly tinted, with green or magenta casts that are especially noticeable when shadows are lifted during editing."
