Friday Slide Show: Apple Blossoms

We've been overwhelmed lately. Just too many loose ends threatening to form themselves into nooses. So now and then something we had planned to do gets lost in the dust raised by the shuffle.
Like photographing our apple blossoms, which are one of the few delights of our garden (along with the kumquats). And to think of all the energy we spent chasing cherry blossoms just a few weeks ago! You'd think we'd remember.
But we forgot.
The weather, which has been cold and windy, didn't remind us. Until yesterday when it was mild and sunny and, being garbage day, we found ourselves in the yard with the weed whacker. Which itself is always an occasion for stopping a moment and admiring the spring growth.
We did get through the whacking, we're happy to report. But the Kobalt 40v whacker's head disintegrated. The yard has bricks and concrete and rocks and the plastic head lasted three years after the original made it five so we weren't surprised.
Gear Acquisition Syndrome doesn't apply to stuff like weed whackers, as far as we're concerned anyway. We might like an upgraded model but not for $200. On the other hand, it was a major hassle getting the replacement part last time (a plastic cover that holds the wire spool in the spinning head). Major.
Enter YouTube.
We found a few videos made by people with the same whacker who have adapted replacement heads for other whackers to the Kobalt 40v. For the price of the cover, we can put a new head on the thing. That may actually advance when we bump it. Who knows?

So we didn't actually see these guys use the whacker on anything.
Not that we're deterred. We'll buy a replacement and try to adapt it. We're extravagant that way.
