In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at black holes, Katherine Hubbard, Lucas Foglia and Ricoh GR IV.
- Reuters presents 38 (many "artistic") photos of Surreal Images of Known Black Holes in Galaxies Near and Far.
- The Great Room "is a profoundly personal series by the interdisciplinary artist in collaboration with her mother." Using large-format cameras and experimental darkroom techniques, Katherine Hubbard photographed her mother suffering dementia "to help transform the pain of loss into an act of love."
- Suzanne Sease features Constant Bloom, the personal project of Lucas Foglia, which "follows Painted Lady butterflies on the longest butterfly migration ever discovered, spanning Europe, Africa, and the Middle East."
- Ricoh has announced it is developing the Ricoh GR IV. The new GR "inherits the basic GR-series concept, while also incorporating totally new components, including a newly designed lens, a new image sensor and a new imaging engine, to further upgrade image quality," the company said. "It also features more advanced communications functions and is compatible with a new application designed for smart devices to improve operability and functionality."
