In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Alan Taylor's picks, Ctein dye transfer sale, read noise comparison, Tamara Lanier's photos and a funeral session.
- Alan Taylor presents his Photos of the Week, including a rare tornado touchdown in Chile, a dinosaur exhibition in Shanghai, a hummingbird clinic in Mexico, a "Dogs and Fun" fair in Germany and an aerial ferry bridge in France.
- Mike Johnston has launched his Ctein Dye Transfer Archive Print Sale, which will run through 10 a.m. PDT on Friday, June 6.
- Jim Kasson continues his exploration of Read Noise Spectra Across ISO Ranges in the GFX 100II, adding the Hasselblad CFV-100C for comparison (no spikes).
- After Six Years, Harvard Relinquishes Images of Enslaved Ancestors to Their Descendant. NPR's Scott Simon speaks to Tamara Lanier who, following a six-year legal battle with Harvard University, won the ownership to images of her enslaved descendants.
- In From Hospital Portraits to a Funeral, a photographer on Reddit contracted for a hospital shoot of a dying son who, in fact, died before the shoot. Now the mother wants a funeral shoot. The photographer wants to know how to make a gift of the shoot. And gets lots of advice.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
