In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Reuters's Day, flying foxes, Joanne Leonard and Diane Arbus.
- Reuters presents 21 Pictures of the Day for June 4.
- Kate Mothes showcases Hardik Shelat's images of Indian Flying Foxes cooling themselves in 110 degree heat.
- Another Morning, a photo of a stranger asleep, is Joanne Leonard's best photograph, she tells Charlotte Jansen. "A sleeping figure doesn't pose or become self-conscious," Leonard says,. "It's as natural as you can be in front of a camera. But it is an intimate thing to photograph someone when they are sleeping - there is no opportunity to obtain consent."
- Veronica Esposito reviews a major Diane Arbus Exhibition in New York. "Embracing randomness, this exhibition of a full set of 454 master prints from Arbus's only authorized printmaker, Neil Selkirk, tries its best to give audiences a completely unstructured presentation of the photos," she writes.
