Leica Announces 28-70 f2.8 Compact Zoom

Leica has announced its Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 28-70 f2.8 ASPH., "the most compact and lightweight zoom lens for the SL-System," the company said. The L-Mount lens features a constant f2.8 aperture across its wide-angle to moderate telephoto focal range with fast autofocus.
The optical construction in a metal housing comprises 16 lenses arranged in 12 groups with three of these lenses featuring aspherical surfaces on both sides. Despite the 4.01 x 2.82-inch metal housing, the lens remains just 20.02 oz.
