A Rough Night

6 August 2020

When I talked with Joyce this morning she'd already had breakfast, seen Dr. Tong and had blood drawn for another blood test. She said it felt like it was dinner time already.

She had a rough night, she said, mainly because of the pain. They are given her an assortment of pain relievers to find out what works. As well as antibiotics.

'You mean you prefer my cooking?' I asked.

They expected the pain issue, of course, but they are concerned about her systolic blood pressure (the first number) which has not been higher than 88 (and is normally around 120). There are a number of reasons it might be low, primarily her inactivity.

They're giving her "more food than I can eat," she said. Some is OK, some not. "You mean you prefer my cooking?" I asked. "OMG, yes!" she said. (I think her blood pressure rose at that point.)

She hasn't been out of bed since getting into it. Not at all mobile yet despite her hike to the elevator yesterday.

And they've been quizzing her on her home environment. Will there be someone there to help her get around? Does she have stairs? How will she get home? How will she get in the house without keys? She left her keys here but we have magic tricks to get in the house without them.

She sounded pretty rocky and I suspect she'll be napping on and off during the day to catch up on last night's lost sleep.
