I tried to talk to Joyce a couple of times this morning but she wasn't answering. She had a good reason, though. She was among the first surgeries today.

The second add-on surgery was at 8:30 this morning, quite a different ballgame from her 11:30 p.m. first add-on. So she was able to eat the "terrible" food all day.

She felt it went very well, although she can't see anything as it happens. She did have anesthesia and did spend about an hour in recovery, she thought.

But her day was just beginning.

She got a sweet card from Tommy Sniezyk today. And she took a little stroll down the hall, part way with a walker and the rest without. Under the supervision of her physical therapist, of course.

Who remarked that she was doing "much better."

Joyce called while she was waiting for dinner. They had offered it at 5 p.m. but she wasn't ready yet. You have to steel your nerves for the food there, apparently.

When she called, I was tangled in blue painter's tape. Our second coat on the baseboards had dried while I was out hunting and gathering.

By some miracle (like that loaves and fishes story) I had enough of the blue stuff to tape off the baseboards yesterday. So I not only painted the Delighted Mew walls (retouching them and cutting in at the baseboards) but I even did the baseboards before dinner.

I texted her the pictures before slaving over the hot stove and she was happily surprised.
