A Quiet Day

4 September 2020

Joyce spent a quiet day in the house, resting. And I took advantage of the day free of nurses, doctors and healthcare services to buy some soap, drain cleaner and groceries. The little necessities of life.

The phone only rang twice all day but she was too weary to get it. It seems as if only today has she transitioned home from the hospital.

No more drive-through Covid-19 tests to qualify for out-patient surgery or clinic visits. She can stay home and the nurse will do the dressing changes now. For how long, we don't know.

Eventually, tissue will fill the void and she'll need a rather large skin graft to permanently close the wound. But we aren't anywhere near that.

She has to wear the Wound VAC all the time, even if she keeps forgetting she has it attached to her. So she isn't getting around much.

We had some sun today so I suggested she come downstairs and get some free Vitamin D. She just wasn't up to it.

But we have a couple of quiet days ahead before her next dressing change on Monday with Tyler and Salwa, who will apparently be taking over for Tyler.

Meanwhile, time to make dinner!
