Joyce has two things on her menu today. It all starts with a dressing change this morning. And in the afternoon, she'll have her first workout with the physical therapist.
She had a visit from 21st Century Home Healthcare's Steven last week to evaluate her for physical therapy.
He put on a gown on the stairs before he came in. And got excited when he saw the piano. He's a musician in his other life. They talked sheet music for a bit before he got down to business.
He watched her walk around the room and then grabbed the company's brochure, turned it over and drew four exercises for her to do to strengthen the muscles outside her knees to straighten her feet and make her more stable.
He scheduled the physical therapist (I'm calling her Alpha but it could be Alfa) to come twice a week for a few weeks before tapering off to once a week. Just to stretch the supervision out as long as possible before Medicare won't cover it any longer.
She called last night to set up this afternoon's appointment. At least we were done with dinner (a garlic and clam pizza, this time with a tomato sauce).
