The Doorbell Rings

25 September 2020

At precisely 10 a.m., the doorbell rang. Salwa had finally figured it out. When I praised her ingenuity, she joked that she had gone to strength training classes to prepare for the event this morning.

That wasn't the only thing she got right.

She managed to piece together the mosaic of foam in the wound more easily and then put a single sheet of drape over the whole thing in one grand gesture ala Tyler.

This was a big relief to all of us. She finished a neater job in half the time. Progress.

Of course she had to put everything in perspective by confessing a few recent screw ups (like bundling her Apple Watch in her about-to-be-laundered bed sheets) so we wouldn't get too relieved.

But Dallas plays Seattle this weekend, so she's understandably distracted. She's a Cowboys fan.

The rest of the day was pretty quiet for Joyce. She thought she might go to Trader Joe's with me but wasn't quite up to it yet. She plans to resume physical therapy next week so maybe we'll start taking walks again tomorrow.

Meanwhile not a peep out of Lowe's (they won't even answer the phone any more). So we're still accepting Guess the Date entries.

Come to think of it, we did get a peep out of Lowe's. It was an email "reminder" that "You only have a few days left!" to buy their three-year protection plan for our new dryer.

We know an excellent (and reasonable) appliance repair guy. That's what I call a protection plan.
