A Postscript to the Evening

7 October 2020

It seems some things never end. Quite. And today was one of those things that never ends. In fact, we're probably premature writing this "postscript."

But as soon as I posted the latest update today, Alice dropped by with a salad, pizza (quite a large one) and Italian cookies. She was in the city to deliver her daughter's laundry (laundromats in the Covid-19 era are not a good idea) and thought she'd bring us dinner while she was at it.

We had a nice 45-minute visit. But I can't tell you what we discussed. It's possible (likely even) you were mentioned.

When she left, Joyce warmed up the pizza and tossed the salad and we sat down to eat just as (you guessed it) the phone rang.

It was Joyce's doctor, Ana Brenman. She thought she should check in.

She's concerned that the pain and swelling might indicate a blood clot, as Dr. Tong had mentioned over the weekend. So she suggested a sonogram tomorrow, which she would arrange.

That shouldn't be a problem with the Wound VAC. I asked while Joyce was still on the phone with her.

So we're expecting to hear in the morning what time her sonogram appointment will be.

You have no idea how happy I am the washer and dryer are not being delivered tomorrow. Ha ha.
