'Thank You So Much!'

1 December 2020

The form to send Joyce a text on her birthday didn't have any way of knowing your phone number so I just popped in mine as the sender. So all during the day, as Joyce kept trying to say, "Thank you so much!" to everyone who texted her I kept getting thank-you's from her.

Birthday Roses. We turned on her 'Joy' sign, too.

Between the joyful texts and the phone calls, she was reminded throughout the whole day how many people (besides me) love her.

My mother had asked me for help picking up a present, so I dashed over to the market and bought her those roses you see and a bottle of sparkling wine you don't see.

It turns out some French monks (who apparently kept it to themselves) were making sparkling dry white wine long before the guys in Champagne popped a bottle. We'd had a bottle of Saint-Hilaire Brut Blanquette de Limoux for brunch a week or so ago and really liked it, so Mom got Joyce one of those for dinner, too.

It was a day of sparkling wine from the Zonin prosecco at brunch to the Saint-Hilaire at dinner.

We hardly had an appetite, though, after Dan and Alice brought over a dozen fresh bundt cupcakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes. We didn't eat them all in one sitting, but between the four of us we had most of them before they left.

So we were thinking of having a light dinner to end the party. And what could be better than Cabonara? I gave you the recipe in Three Words as the perfect late night dish but it's also a nice light dish, too.

Then we had the last four bundt cupcakes.
