The Week Ahead Revised

7 December 2020

Salwa the LVN couldn't make it this morning due to a minor family emergency so Toni the LVN stepped in. You really appreciate the difficulty of dealing with Joyce's wound when you see someone new try to deal with it.

But Toni is a professional and she managed the dressing change and took Joyce's vitals (with the help of Joyce's Apple Watch, which was the only way we could get a blood oxygen reading this morning).

Toni told us the traffic was a little lighter today with everything under lockdown again.

We discussed Wednesday with her. If Dr. Tong is going to look at the wound in the afternoon, there's no point in changing the dressing in the morning. So we'll just skip Wednesday.

A little after she left, Salwa texted us that she'll see us on Wednesday. So I explained that unless Dr. Tong canceled we'd just let Dr. Tong do the dressing change. Which was fine with Salwa.

And a little after that, as if on cue, Dr. Tong's office called to cancel the appointment.

So I texted Salwa that we were back on for Wednesday. And she confirmed that she'd be here between 9:30 and 10.

Except we're down to one piece of white foam at the moment. Joyce reordered on Friday for a Monday delivery but it just hasn't arrived yet. So she called to confirm that it's on its way and they promised FedEx would deliver it this afternoon.

Which rings a bell.

On the bright side of the ledger, Joyce got a check from the U.S. Treasury today that we have divined is a reimbursement for her having paid for Medicare in November. Not to mention confirmation she'll get her first Social Security deposit this month.

When you're rolling in it, you're rolling in it.
