So we arrive at the Plastic Surgery Clinic at 1:30, right on schedule. The check-in clerk looks at Joyce like he's seeing a ghost. "Just a minute," he says, after consulting his monitor.
He leaves the waiting room, retreating to the medical offices and a few minutes later returns.
"You had a virtual visit scheduled," he explains. "But Dr. Tong is here now and will see you."
Which was a good thing because Joyce needed a dressing change. It hadn't been changed since Monday in anticipation of this visit.
While we waited, Joyce looked up her reminder email from Kaiser. It said, "Office Visit." So, there's some confusion about it. That's the polite way of putting it.
During the visit, Dr. Tong said the wound is progressing nicely but that she couldn't confirm the surgery date. We'll have to wait and see.
But not too long because Joyce will need a Covid-19 test three days before she's admitted.
When we got home, I contacted Salwa the LVN to let her know the dressing had been changed (she would have come over to do it if not) and confirm that our next change would be Saturday.
She confirmed that Toni would be here "by special request."
No confusion about that at all.
