Walking Weather

18 January 2021

We had some warm sunny days in the sixties this weekend so I persuaded Joyce to take a walk. She's been housebound for weeks this winter, only leaving for her two clinic visits.

On Saturday morning we walked up to the market with the idea of buying a crab for lunch. We'd been watching for crab boat lights at night on the ocean and just started seeing them so we knew the local catch would be in by now.

Usually the market advertises the local catch prominently. But there was no big banner. Just a stack of crab at $14.99 a pound, well over the usual $6 a pound for the first catch.

We lost our appetite for crab.

But the walk did her good. She was more with it the next day so we repeated the exercise, walking down the hill to Triangle Park, which is being renovated.

She was anxious about going down the hill and back, but she managed it fine. Huffing and puffing a little coming up, that's all. Which speaks to her lack of exercise more than anything else.

It's already in the sixties this morning as we wait for Salwa the LVN to change the dressing. So maybe we'll venture forth again today.
