Catching Up

5 July 2021

Somehow I'd planned to write this update days ago but there was always one little wrinkle let to smooth out so I kept putting it off.

Vic the LVN came through last Friday with a half-point bottle of Vashe. The home nursing company had never been able to supply it before. So it counts as his first miracle. Three makes you a saint.

Joyce forgot to take her Tylenol with Codeine at noon on Friday and I had to coat the wound in Lidocaine at one for her two o'clock appointment at the clinic. So I waited 15 minutes but it still hurt.

Lot of kibbitzing going on these days.

At the clinic, Cat made quick work of the wound. Just half an hour this time. "There wasn't much to do," she said. Which surprised me because the yellow slough grows pretty quickly and I thought there was plenty to do.

She invited me in to schedule the next appointment but they really didn't have anything. Joyce won't go back until July 20.

Cat also volunteered that Dr. Tong still hopes to get her in the hospital in August. I'd thought that was off. That we were still trying to avoid that. But maybe Dr. Tong was just kibbitzing.*

Lot of kibbitzing going on these days.

When we got home, I took a peek at the front porch to see if we'd had any deliveries and there, to my surprise, was a box from Byram. And in that box, even more surprising, was another half-pint bottle of Vashe.

So we're good on Vashe at the moment.

It's the Dakin's Solution that's the issue now. We're down to the last few drops, hoping Kaiser pharmacy comes through with an email telling us it's ready for pickup.

Of course, today is a holiday (except for care workers like Vic, who showed up at 10 again to take vitals and do the dressing change).

Cat said to use saline solution if we run out of Dakin's Solution. We've got plenty of that.
