Tube Removal

17 September 2021

At three this afternoon Jenny the Physicians Assistant called out of the blue to update me on Joyce's situation. That makes three different physician assistants calling over 24 hours if you're scoring at home.

"She's doing really well," she said.

Yesterday they removed the epidural, so she's a little more comfortable. Later today they'll remove the catheter connected to her bladder.

That will just leave an IV attached to her.

All those tubes made her unsteady when she tried to walk around. So she hasn't been getting much exercise. Things should pick up this weekend.

They have been doing wet-to-dry dressing changes using Vashe, Jenny said.

When I asked about any more results from the cultures, Jennifer looked it up quickly but didn't find any. She did explain that the two bacteria that were reported in earlier results are skin flora, bacteria that is normally present on our skin and consequently expected in an open wound.

There was no debridement today but Dr. Tong is still planning on doing one Tuesday. So she won't be home before then.
