We've been waiting to hear about Joyce's biopsies, whose results we expected last week. As this week ends, we emailed Dr. Tong to remind her we're waiting for the results.

Generally, a Kaiser doctor will review the results and release them electronically. You get an email telling you that you have some test results and when you log into the Kaiser site, you go to the Test Results page and there they are.

Unless, that is, the doctor doesn't release them because she wants to discuss them with you. Which is not, generally speaking, good news.

But there have been a couple of Monday holidays since the biopsies so we're hoping the lab has just been busy. But it doesn't hurt to ask.

AT THE END of the year, Joyce got a letter from a company called WEX asking her to confirm she wanted to keep her medical savings account open. Otherwise they were going to release the funds to the state of Texas.

WEX is on the east coast. We don't know how Texas figures into this. And she had no idea she had $500 lying around in a medical savings account.

But apparently it was a benefit at the printing company she worked at before it was sold to the last company she worked for.

So she sent the letter in confirming she wanted to keep the account open and then she emailed customer service to find out how to close it and get the money. It would pay for a shipment of sacrum pads from Byram.

Of course that involved another private email system with logins and usernames and passwords, oh my. And of course that didn't fly at first since nothing was active any more. But we persisted and she finally got in.

Customer service provided a PDF form for closing the account with some basic instructions. We filled it out electronically this morning and returned it in their private system.

Somehow, though, we suspect that won't be the end of this story.
