Down and Out

Between 8 and 20 p.m. a plumber is coming to unclog the upstairs toilet which I'd been plunging all afternoon. In desperation I bought a toilet auger but it didn't reach the clog either.
Joyce had to use the bathroom after 8 p.m. so I escorted her downstairs. It was a trial getting her pullups down, but she finally managed. Getting back upstairs, though, turned out to be impossible.
She just didn't have the strength to step up with her good leg.
So I gently laid her down on the floor of the studio and called 911 to return her to Kaiser ER.
Fortunately they were still accepting admissions. Or she would have ended up in South City or San Francisco General.
And here I am waiting for the plumber. Then, if it isn't too late, I'll take the 43 over to Kaiser. It will be too late if I can't catch a 43 back by 11 when they stop running.
