Andy and Judy drove down from Sacramento to visit Joyce today.
She didn't want to get out of bed, of course, but I put her shoes on and helped her to the edge of the bed. But she couldn't stand up by herself. Her legs weren't holding her up.
So Andy helped me get her on the wheelchair and we rolled her to the empty rehab gym where she showed them what she could do on the SciFit. Which was quite a lot, working her legs and arms for 15 minutes with hardly a break.
But that was after I had her stand up so I could rewrap her Ace bandage which had been badly wound around the dressing. Which itself was not the Mepilex but paper bandages again. It's infuriating they won't buy the supplies she should have.
We rolled down to the other end of the facility to weigh her in the chair. She's lost another two pounds to just 132 lbs. and 12 oz. That makes her happy but worries the rest of us. She just isn't eating.
The nurse on duty told me she did take her vitamins and Donepezil today without a complaint. But that she didn't touch her breakfast.
We sat in the Pacific Room around a big table. I brought Joyce her lunch from the room and she downed her liquids and took two bites of the turkey sandwich that had been pulsed into bits. When I took the tray back I told the nurse I had asked the speech therapist to evaluate her for normal-looking food. She said she would message her.
Back in the room, we had some cookies. Andy and Judy had brought and then Judy took a look at the piano. There was not a sheet of music to be found so Andy went online for some old favorites and devised a way to display them on his phone screen.
He became the page scroller for Judy as she played away to Joyce's delight.
Joyce did manage to walk back to the bed from the hallway but Andy and I had to get her upright first. Once she was on her feet, she was fine.
