The Healing Process

9 April 2022

To get a sense of how the wound is healing for our various care providers, I collected the various images of it in a Google Photos album.

I'm going to put the link to that album up here, too, but caution that it's not for the delicate. If these things bother you, this certainly will.

The album is The Wound.

The most recent image is first and the earliest image is actually of the radiation damage whose abscesses led to the first surgery with Dr. Tong. Unfortunately Google Photos does not show the date of each photo.

The bloodier images are just after debridements. That's generally the healthiest the wound has looked.

The further from a debridement we are, the more yellow slough you'll see in the wound. And the more recent images show some white scar tissue.

The large cylindrical mass near the bottom of the wound is her leg muscle with a white tendon on top. That's the one that hasn't been responding to electrical stimulation during the surgeries.

The nurses measure the wound consistently at about 20cm x 9cm or 8 x 3.5 inches, although that's merely approximate.

I'll continue to add images to the album as we go along to measure any progress.
