In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at International Women's Day, Women Street Photographers, Meg Loeks, Enoch Ku, single dads, the Leica R 28-70mm, ProCamera and Filmulator.

  • The Guardian presents images from around the world of International Women's Day. The theme of today's International Women's Day is Choose to Challenge. "A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change," organizers note.
  • In 100 Contemporary Women Street Photographers Redefining the Genre, Miss Rosen reviews Gulnara Samoilova's new photography book Women Street Photographers. "Bringing together women of all ages, races, ethnicities, creeds and sexualities, Samoilova is on a mission to offer the kinds of opportunities and support she wished she had throughout her career," she writes.
  • In Meg Loeks Creates a Nostalgic Feel in Her Photos, the Michigan photographer walks us through a portrait of her daughter taking a sink bath. "The trouble I often run into is that not only is the window next to my sink small, but there's a covered porch right outside it," she writes. "Add in inclement weather like we had on this day when I took the shot; there's a definite lack of natural light."
  • Stephanie Wade presents photos of Ordinary Sacramento by Enoch Ku. "There is beauty found in the mundane moments of life, beautiful ordinary moments that are occurring all around us whether we see them or not," he says. Indeed.
  • In Single Dads in Their Own Words, Tom Seymour selects excerpts from photographer Harry Borden's new book Single Dad. Borden's portraits are accompanied by the father's description of life as a single parent.
  • Kirk Tuck takes an old Leica R Series 28-70mm f3.5 to 4.5 Zoom Lens out for a stroll on his new Leica SL2. He did a lot of research before he bought it, though.
  • In his ProCamera App Review, Jason Row calls it "the best third-party camera app that I have used."
  • Filmulator, the Raw image editing software based on film development, has been updated to version 0.11.1 with a new white balance tool to sample a spot on the image.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look five years back. And please support our efforts...
