In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at ProRaw + Super Resolution, moiré, an upgraded M1 Mac Mini, Backblaze hard drive stats and the Lightroom Ambassadors.
- Oom Malik tries Apple ProRaw with Adobe Super Resolution and finds it amazing. "What impressed me most was the detail that the marriage of ProRaw and Adobe's Super Resolution could capture and enhance," he writes.
- In What Is Moiré In Photography and How to Deal With It, Dahlia Ambrose offers a number of approaches to dealing with the problem.
- Anton Shilov details how Engineers Sneakily Upgrade Apple M1 Mac Mini With More Storage, RAM. They kicked it up to 16-GB RAM with a 1-TB SSD. The interesting aspect is that no firmware modifications were required.
- Andy Klein releases the Backblaze Hard Drive Stats for 2020. The company added 39,792 hard drives during the year, adding Western Digital 16-TB and 18-TB variants to the farm and they're "off to a great start" with just one failure so far. Toshiba's 14-TB drives, though, have had none.
- Adobe invites you to Meet the Lightroom Ambassadors. "We're building a community where photographers anywhere can connect with each other and share their passions," the company said.
