In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at an ultrasound, deciding between black-and-white or color, Photoclass2022, Jim Kasson's plans and today's Lensbaby Photowalk.

  • Kirk Tuck takes his Leica CL and Sigma 18-50 zoom on a Post Vaccine Recovery Walk through a gallery (in color) and Austin's downtown (in monochrome). "It seems obvious that black and white works best for very graphic subjects but lately I see it pressed into service in many of the niches that perhaps should be left to color," he writes. Ah, the old Tonality vs. Hue battle.
  • There are 41 assigments in Photoclass2022 but the Future of Photoclass is in question. "Is there anyone or idealy a group of people, that would like to continue this labor of love in the spirit of paying forward and take over from 2024?" Pieter Osaer, who has been running the show for nine years, asks.
  • In Coming Attractions, Jim Kasson promises "some interesting posts coming" after not posting much lately as he moved to a new server. He's ordered a Hasselblad X2D 100 and 38mm f2.5 lens, plus the new Fujifilm 20-35/4 GF zoom. Sit tight.
  • Today is the Lensbaby Photowalk and it's not too late to register for the over $5,000 in prizes. You can even register as a solo walk. Ten theme winners will get $250 and 10 runners-up will be awarded $100.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
