In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Retro Holidays, every remaining glacier, a "grinchy" thought, darktable 4.2.0 and all of Oakley's macOS utilities.
- Suzanne Sease features Retro Holidays, a personal project of Emily Hawkes who collaborated with prop stylist/crafter Andrea Greco. "Our goal was to create something retro-inspired, but with a modern edge. From there, we thought about what other scenes might happen in this world and brought on food stylist Erika Joyce to create a fantastic '70s-era dinner party spread," Hawkes writes. Ah, the warm goo of fondu.
- "Garrett Fisher is traveling the world in his tiny blue-white 'Super Cub' aircraft, on a quest to document every remaining glacier on Earth," writes Bram Janssen. Not Santa, perhaps, but close.
- Mike Johnston has a Grinchy Christmas Thought that resonated in the comments with more examples of money spent on things that disappointed.
- Darktable 4.2.0 has been released with a new Sigmoid display transform module, new algorithms for the highlight reconstruction module, a recoded pixelpipe used for image display and more.
- Downloads provides links to all of Howard Oakley's excellent macOS utilities plus a Homebrew private tap on GitHub for them, too.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
