In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Europe in 2023, Time's top photos, outfitting a darkroom, starting a club, digital photo frames, the Lancaster Watch Camera and Printique.
- The Associated Press continues its regional roundup of this year's best images with Europe.
- Time magazine has published its Top 100 Photos of 2023. "Even though we collectively scroll through thousands of photographs each day, there are still those that stop us in our tracks on a regular basis," they note.
- In How to Build a Darkroom, Federico Alegria lists everything you need to develop film and make prints. It's a daunting list, particularly for an exercise "every photographer should try at least once."
- A Reddit poster is Starting Photography Club for at-risk kids and wonders how to outfit the club with cameras. "I can't come up with 25 cameras for 25 kids, but I really want to do this," they write. The answers include some creative alternatives.
- Medea Giordana updates Wired's recommendations for Digital Photo Frames with products from from Aura and Loop.
- For the person who has everything, the Lancaster Watch Camera from the 1890s will only set you back around $36,000.
- Adorama's Printique is offering its Pro members a 25 percent discount and free shipping on orders over $50 when you use the code POWERPRO25 through Dec. 7. The company offers photo albums, glass prints and photo prints.
