Parents have it rough Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The work starts late and spans two days. Sometimes you wonder if all those batteries they bought were really just to keep them going.
This is Mom in the late 1950s on Christmas morning finally getting to open a present from Dad.
Little brother John is wearing the pilot's cap he just got and his new holster. Brother Dan's fire truck is parked at her feet and my new Jerry Mahoney is taking a rest himself after a busy morning trying out jokes.
There is still church to attend, family to visit, a meal to prepare.
So on this Christmas morning, we salute the parents making this day so special for the ones they love.
