In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Michael Joseph, John Walmsley, drizzle, Outdoor Photographer's lawsuit, photography conferences and the Mac turns 40.
- Mee-Lai Stone presents Michael Joseph's photos of America's Young Travellers from his new book Lost & Found. Each black-and-white portrait, taken on the street, is accompanied by the subject's story.
- Chris Broughton interviews John Walmsley about his photo of Protesters in Bed During an Eight-Week Sit-In at the Guildford School of Art. It is his best photo, he says.
- Kirk Tuck goes for A Walk Through the Drizzle. "I'd finished my work for the day so I picked up the Fujifilm GFX camera and the 35-70mm Fujifilm lens and drove down to our urban center," he writes. "I set the camera to shoot JPEGs and instead of using the Tri-X formula I've been obsessed with I just set the camera to the Acros black-and-white film simulation that comes standard with the camera." And you get a slide show.
- Jeremy Gray, the former reviews editor at Imaging Resource, reports Outdoor Photographer's New Owner Is Now Suing the Former Owner with background on what has happened to Imaging Resource, Digital Photo Pro, Digital Photo and Outdoor Photographer .
- Derrick Story lists Five Upcoming Photography Conferences. Few and far between, perhaps, but still kicking.
- The Computer History Museum will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the unveiling of the Macintosh with Insanely Great tonight in Mountain View, Calif. at 7 p.m. tonight. Moderator David Pogue will introduce "insider stories of the Mac and Apple's early days from key members of the original hardware, software, design, and marketing/PR teams, including Bill Atkinson, Steve Capps, Andy Cunningham, Andy Hertzfeld, Bruce Horn, Susan Kare, Dan'l Lewin and Mike Murray." You can watch via CHM's YouTube channel.
