In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at The Photography Show, Arles Coliseum Steps, Firefly Image 3 Model and subtractive lighting.

  • The Guardian previews a few image from The Photography Show at the Park Avenue Armory in New York from April 25 o 28.
  • Harold Davis captures the Arles Coliseum Steps one evening with his 35mm Zeiss f1.4 wide open, ISO cranked up and the camera on Aperture priority. "One lens and one aperture setting is sometimes a useful exercise," he writes.
  • Julieanne Kost details the April update to Photoshop that includes the Firefly Image 3 Model. The model enables "the new Generate Image feature as well as updates to Generative Expand, Generative Fill, and Remove Background," she writes.

  • In Subtractive Lighting Will Be Key, Kirk Tuck details his on-location portrait setup that uses a big umbrella brought in close and some black fabric to block can lights and light bouncing off white walls.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
