Panasonic has announced the Lumix S9, the smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera in the Lumix S Series and the Lumix S 26mm f8, a lightweight pancaked lens to go with it.

Available in four colors (black, red, olive and blue), the Lumix S9 features phase detection autofocus for subject tracking, as well as Active I.S. to reduce blurring from camera shake when shooting handheld.

Designed as an upgrade for the creative smartphone user, the Lumix S9 also provides a range of popular, classic and bespoke color styles in-camera with the popular real time LUT function via a new dedicated button on the camera body. A companion Lumix Lab app allows you to create your own LUTs as well.

The Lumix S9 also introduces the MP4 Lite recording format. Shooting Open Gate in 4:2:0 10 bit in 30p/25p, you can capture high quality videos in the optimum format for smartphone and resize aspect ratios to suit social media with the Lumix Lab app.

PANCAKE LENS

Panasonic also announced its Lumix S 26mm f8, a compact and lightweight pancake lens with a fixed f-stop of f8 and manual focus only.

The slim optic is less than three-quarters inch long and weighs just over two ounces. It is "designed for the simple enjoyment of manual shooting with creative composition and exposure. Perfect for spontaneously capturing fleeting moments, the 26mm delivers unique results compared to the existing line-up of Lumix S Series wide-angle, fixed focal length lenses," the company said.
