In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at sporting moments, a cow grazing in a dumpsite, Google's Recap, Snapshot Spirit Live!, portrait poses, Drew Hendrix and adopting AI.
- Reuters presents 2024's Sporting Moments in pictures.
- Misper Apawu's image of A Cow Grazing in a Dumpsite highlight how second-hand clothes pollute our environment. "What struck me at the dumpsite was the contrast and irony of the scene," she writes. "Cows, typically associated with green pastures and rural landscapes, were seen feeding off the waste at the dump. I spoke with the dumpsite manager and asked why the cows could graze there. He explained that there were no green pastures available in the settlement."
- Sarah Perez reports Google Photos' 2024 Recap introduces a collection of memories, insights and photos, which can also be augmented with AI captions. "Users will receive a notification when their recap is ready," she writes. "To access the AI captions feature, Google says to make sure you’ve opted into using Gemini in Photos."
- Sky LaRell Anderson is developing Snapshot Spirit Live!, a game to teach the exposure triangle to students.:
- Margaret Cirino suggests a few Confidence-Boosting Poses to try. And if you do, NPR would like to hear from you.
- Kevin Raber has posted his 1:34:23 Photo Chat with Red River Paper's Drew Hendrix.
- In Adopting AI While Questioning It: The Future of Graphic Design, Paul Melcher writes, "The challenge is not in resisting AI but in shaping its role and crafting a future where creativity and technology coexist in harmony."
