In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Ocean Art Contest, McAwhy, pandas and old age.
- Kate Mothes showcases images from the 2024 Ocean Art Contest presented by Underwater Photography Guide. "Now in its 13th year, the competition saw record-breaking participation with entries submitted from more than 90 countries," she writes.
- Grace Holliday presents Two Heads, One Heart, Dotun Ajoa aka McAwhy's best phone picture, taken with a Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5G. "The tired dad had snuck off for a nap when Ireyao found him and, instead of asking for a snack or to play as he usually would, the toddler quietly climbed into bed and used his father's head as a pillow," she sets the scene.
- Tyrone Turner captures the The Pandas' Official Return to the National Zoo.
- In 'How Am You?' Mike Johnston details his recovery from a serious fall Monday night before working in Edouard Rischgitz's portrait of an unkempt Charles Dickens. "This post, if it were a high school paper, would come back marked C -- "poorly organized, with no central theme and no thoroughgoing argument" -- but if I'm skittering from here to there I'm also touching again on a series of topics from the past few days," he argues.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
