In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's Photos of the Month, the immigration crackdown, Reginald Kofi Boateng, free benches, off-season photography and shooting film.
- The Associated Press showcases its Top Photos of the Month curated by AP photo editors Leslie Mazoch and Rachel Leathe.
- Reuters has 31 photos From the Frontlines of Trump's Immigration Crackdown. "Since taking office, Trump has rolled back Biden-era guidance that limited arrests of non-criminals, ordered other federal law enforcement to assist with immigration work, and scrapped restrictions at schools, churches and hospitals," the editors write.
- Grace Holliday presentd Thoughts -- Afro Tale, Reginald Kofi Boateng's best phone photo, captured with an iPhone 6s Plus. He used Picsart and Lightroom to edit the image. Boateng says "the surreal tones of green sky and purple ground were designed to evoke a dreamlike quality. The image is a call to honor our roots while boldly stepping into the future."
- For Years, a Sunset Roller-Skating Engineer Has Built Free Benches and Junyao Yang photographed a few of the colorful benches Chris Duderstadt has donated to the city.
- Derrick Story offers A Guide for Off-Season Photography, including seven tips for working outdoors. "Don't let concerns about your gear keep you inside during the winter months," he writes.
- I'm a Film Photography Legend, Mike Johnston writes because he "has pigheadedly persisted in any given pursuit for a lot of years and has gotten old." So he's got some advice for the youngsters.
